Jyothi Circle- Bunts' Hostel Road

Mangaluru : Chairman of the Standing Committee for Town Planning and Improvement at the corporation D.K. Ashok Kumar “boycotted” the bhoomi puja accusing activists of his party – the Congress – of sidelining him and the others in the programme organised to commence the work.

Mr. Ashok, left the venue at the Bunts’ Hostel Junction soon after arguing with Mayor Mahabala Marla and Mangalore South MLA J.R. Lobo and other Congress workers. He was upset that a hoarding put up there did not have his name and photograph. He argued that the corporation did not follow the protocol or print an invitation for it.

He said that it was not a party function but the function of the corporation and all should have been invited.

Leader of the Opposition in the council Premananda Shetty, from the BJP, speaking to presspersons, alleged that the corporation also did not invite Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP.
